Matcha Chia Pudding

Breakfast Criminals Matcha Chia Pudding Recipe

Confession: I’ve been matcha-obsessed. If you follow me on Instagram, you know I’ve been adding matcha to everything, from smoothie bowls to oatmeals, banana bread and energy bites. But the simplest way to get your matcha kick is breakfast chia pudding!

So what is matcha? It’s essentially processed green tea leaves that have been stone-ground into a powder (typically in Japan, where it’s used in the legendary tea ceremonies). The powder is then sifted and whisked with hot water. You just can’t go wrong with matcha’s smooth, green-tea like flavor.

It is said that the health benefits of matcha tea exceed those of green tea because when you drink matcha you ingest the whole leaf, not just the brewed water. Matcha provides antioxidants, fiber, amino acids, and chlorophyll. It is said that matcha can calm your mind, boost metabolism and detoxify.

What are you waiting for? Order some matcha online and get soaking! Most importantly, remember to cook and eat with love. The heart bowl helps to remind you!

Heavenly Matcha Chia Pudding

4 tbs. chia seeds
1 cup cashew milk (or any other non-dairy milk)
2 tbs. cashews
2 tbs. shredded coconut
1 tbs. maple syrup
1 tsp. matcha

Mix all ingredients well in a glass jar. Let sit for 15 minutes, stir again, then put on the lid, and let your chia pudding sit in the fridge for at least 1 hour (overnight is perfect, too). In the morning, serve with your favorite toppings, like coconut flakes, buckwheat cereal and cashews.
