How To Hygge: Rituals To Create Your Own Warm + Cozy Vibes

Spring is just a few short weeks away and it can not come soon enough, but in the meantime, I’ll be doing all I can to welcome in the warm + cozy vibes. Still not sure how to totally pronounce it but hygge, the Danish art of coziness, embraces feelings of warmth, contentment, serenity, and an all-over sense of well-being. It’s about enjoying simple moments of bliss and comfort that lights you up from within, whether that looks like lighting your favorite candle, a Palo Santo ritual, snuggling up with your fam and drinking superfood tonics – it’s all about keeping it cozy.


For me, personally, it’s incredibly important to create calming rituals and practices when it starts getting cold in the winter months! I arm myself with my favorite tonics, soups and wellness rituals I turn to when outside is less than favorable.

Practice an indoor yoga flow

Yoga is one of my favorite safe havens for self-care. There’s no need to force any elaborate yogi moves here, it’s about bringing in breath + warmth for more vibrant energy. Some of my favorite soothing poses include:

Supta Baddha Konasana (Reclining Bound Angle) – While laying down, bend your knees and drop them out to your sides. Allow your hands to rest on your heart and belly. Breathe and sink deeply into this calming hip-opener. Inhale gratitude and exhale your stressors.

Viparita Karani (Legs up the Wall) Aim to create a 90 degree angle with your torso and legs. Relax and place your hands either on your sides with your palms facing up or on your belly. Stay in the pose for 1 to 15 minutes. This will help increase blood flow and help oxygenate your cells helping with sleep.

Savasana, or Corpse pose – Lay down flat on your back. Tuck your pelvis in and draw the navel down to create length in the spine. Let the arms rest on the Earth, allowing the palms to face up or place them on your heart and belly. Inhale to open the heart and expand the chest, then exhale to rest back into the earth. Relax everything. Take a deep breath in, and on each exhale, completely let go.

Create a soothing presence in your space

Make your home a place for security + comfort. This is best achieved through warm tones, soft textures and soothing light. Light a candle (or a few) of your favorite scent, turn on a diffuser with calming essentials oils like lavender and eucalyptus, throw on your softest and comfiest clothes and grab a thick, snuggable blanket. Whenever I want to drop in, bring in warmth and tune into wherever I’m at I light Palo Santo and cleanse the energy in me and around me. Allow yourself to go back to what truly warms you from the inside out.

Warm + Soothing Comfort Meals

What instantly uplifts my body and spirit is creating nourishing, high-vibe meals with fruits, veggies and lots of superfoods. This simple soup that tastes like a big bowl of comfort and a beautifully healing tonic which support the nervous system, strengthen immunity, and boosts energy levels.

Butternut Squash Soup Recipe (vegan and gluten-free)



1 butternut squash (peeled, seeded and cubed into 1-in. pieces)
2 ½ cup of vegetable broth
3 garlic cloves (peeled)
2 small shallots or ½ sweet onion (peeled + halved)
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp Philosophie Green Dream (optional)
½ tsp sea salt


Set your oven to 400 degrees. Prep veggies by coating with olive oil and placing them on roasting pan or rimmed cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Roast veggies for 45 min., flipping them once or twice and cooking until the squash is tender. Remove any shallot, onion, or garlic that could get burnt. Remove and let cool for 10 to 15 minutes. Place squash and shallots in blender or food processor and blend until creamy. In a large pot, place blended mix, add broth and salt. Cook on medium-low until heated through, adding more broth or water as needed. Taste for seasoning, stir in Green Dream and top with pumpkin seeds. Enjoy!

Medicinal Goji Tonic (energy boosting!)



2 tbsp coconut butter
4 oz steeped tea
2 oz nut milk of choice
2 tbsp dried goji berries
1 tsp Ashwagandha
1 tsp Philosophie Berry Bliss (optional)
A pinch of pink sea salt
1 tsp raw honey


Steep your preferred herbal tea, remove the tea bag and add to a blender with all the other ingredients listed. Mix it in a high speed blender and blend until smooth and pour into your favorite glass!
