Knotted Up Do’s for the Holidays

The Knotted Braid: Up-dos for the Holidays

KNOTTED UP DO’S FOR THE HOLIDAYS

By Maritza Buelvas of BeautyForBloggers.com

With the all the festivities coming up the next few months, we designed two effortless styles to give you that swept away, romantic vibe for any occasion. Ladies—welcome the knotted look for the holidays—it’s kind of game changing!

THE KNOTTED SIDE BUN: Up-dos for the Holidays

THE KNOTTED SIDE BUN

First up, this side bun is pretty easy to do and gets you out the door quickly. Messy is good when it comes to this lovely style, but it still makes for a polished, put-together look modeled by Stephanie Vendetti of How To Be a Redhead.

What You’ll Need:

  • – Volume/Teasing Spray
  • – Root Powder (if hair isn’t freshly washed)
  • – Teasing Comb
  • – Curling Iron

HOW-TO STEPS

Step One

Loosely curl your hair then add volume spray throughout your roots. I like using Not Your Mother’s She’s A Tease Hairspray for adding volume and absorbing scalp oils. Next, tease hair at the crown and at the sides for extra volume and staying power.

Step Two

Pull all your hair to one side and gather with a ponytail. Leave front fringe out and form a messy bun with the hair in the ponytail.

Step Three

Pin bun in place—there is not right way just as long as your strands aren’t totally falling out. Leave the front fringe out for a sexy, flirty look. Pull at your roots for extra volume and to get that relaxed, hip vibe.

THE KNOTTED BRAID

The Knotted Braid: Up Do's for the Holidays

For our next look, this cascading knotted braid adds a magical ease to any outfit and any occasion. Regardless of your hair length, this look is pretty easy to achieve.  Here we have Adrienne Vendetti of How To Be a Redhead modeling this fresh-knotted dream for the holidays.

What You’ll Need:

  • – Volume/Holding Spray
  • – Root Powder (if hair isn’t freshly washed, or on the oily side)
  • – Parting/Teasing Comb
  • – Clear rubber band

How-To Steps:

Step One

Begin grabbing two strands as you would to form a fishtail braid, but instead knot them. You’ll be duplicating this same knotting affect for your entire length of hair—the overall is a cascading knot braid as illustrated below.

Step Two

Once you’ve reached the end of your hair, hold your knot in place with a rubber band and spray to hold hair in place. You can also tug at your strands to widen your overall look (like we did here).
