Keep Your Mind + Body on Track With These Travel Items

Top Items in a Nutritionist's Travel Bag

To wrap up our summer theme of healthy traveling, check out my two previous posts on healthy travel tips and snack ideas.

When I think of travel essentials, I think of items that are going to keep my mind and body on track, including food and other equipment I don’t leave the house without. Today I’m including my favorite items you’ll always see in my travel bag without fail.

Ginger, peppermint, and green tea. I love keeping teas with me at all times, but especially these teas for digestion. Peppermint tea is great if you get an upset or bloated stomach, ginger is great if you experience travel nausea, and green tea because it’s great hot or chilled.

Nuts, seeds. I never leave the house without nuts or seeds, they’re portable, require no refrigeration and are great to keep in a purse or travel bag. My favorites are walnuts, almonds, pumpkin and sunflower seeds.

Chia and flax seed. I always keep these on hand to mix/stir into water for a boost in fiber just in case your diet has been lacking. You’ll thank me later for this one, your digestion will be happy.

Water bottle. I never leave home without a water bottle, hydration is so important when traveling!

Probiotics. Most often when traveling I don’t readily have access to probiotic rich foods, so taking a probiotic helps maintain great digestion.

Jump rope. I’m a fitness fiend and love working out, jumping rope can be a full body workout and it can be done wherever! I love packing this because it’s lightweight and combines cardio and strength in one workout.

A personal blender. I have a small travel blender that I bring with me to make super simple smoothies in the hotel room like my 5-minute Spinach Smoothie.

Plant-based protein powders, hemp seeds, or nutritional yeast. All three of these are so easy to add onto meals or with the powders to simply shake in water for a quick boost in protein.

Utensils. I bring with me bamboo spoon/fork/knife pack with a silver straw all of which can be reused and are small and compact!

Skincare. I never leave my home when traveling without sunscreen and my skincare routine! I’m a huge advocate for what we put on our skin is just as important as what we put in our skin. Check out my favorite natural skincare products here.
