Homemade Holiday Self Care Gifts: Rose Oil Elixir and Rock Star Bath Salts

There’s no more personal and thoughtful gift than the one you make yourself.

Homemade beauty and self-care gifts are especially lovely alternatives to the often chemical-laden store-bought products, plus they’re affordable, unique, and show your love and appreciation. It also allows you to take some  much needed time for yourself during the hectic season and truly get inspired. A win-win in my book! Package each homemade blend in a glass jar with a string of baker’s twine for a thoughtful holiday gift for nearly everyone on your list. Just don’t forget to keep a batch for yourself!

Here are 2 favorites to get you started.



Rose oil is a versatile and extremely potent antibacterial oil infusion. Its anti-inflammatory and tissue regenerating agents, make it the perfect luxurious skin replenishing elixir.

*Makes 4 ounces


6 tablespoons rose infused almond oil (p.xxx)
2 tablespoon vitamin E oil or 5 capsules
5-10 drops rose essential oil (optional)


In a sealed glass container, mix the oils and allow them synergize in a dark location for 24 hours.

To use: Apply the elixir to your face, after cleansing, while your skin is still damp. Massage into your skin, beginning with your décolleté, throat, then face, using circular, upward and outward strokes.

Store in a dark, cool place and use within 6 months for maximum freshness and potency.

Bath salts, in their purest form, contain many beneficial minerals, including magnesium, potassium, calcium, bromide, and of course, sodium that keep your skin mineralized, detoxified and soothed. Try the exciting blend or create your own.



*Makes 2 ½ cups


2 cup dead sea salt
½ cup baking soda
1 teaspoon finely chopped grapefruit peel
1 teaspoon rose petals
1 teaspoon hibiscus
1 teaspoon chopped freeze dried strawberries,
1 teaspoon honeysuckle
10 drops each bergamot, lavender, grapefruit


Keep your salts in a closed container in a cool, dry place. For maximum freshness, use within 6 months.
