BEACH WAVES HAIR TUTORIAL

Jetting to the beach? Yes, you want that fabulous beach hair vibe before hitting the sands!

Prepping your hair beforehand will not only guarantee you’ll have gorgeous hair on the boardwalk, but also on the beach—letting mother nature spin her magic on your tresses, versus wrecking an already flat ‘do. Take these simple steps for ‘cool girl hair’ on beach day—or any day of the week.

To look like you just stepped out of a Free People catalog—take these essential steps to getting sexy California beach waves regardless of where you live—these lovely images were shot in Chicago.

STEP ONE

Curl a few haphazard strands with a clip-less curling wand. Remember you want to mimic natural waves and curls, so focus only on strands that may need some extra bounce. I curled every other strand of hair on both models.

STEP TWO

Once hair is curled, set waves and avoid frizz by working in sea salt spray. I used my favorite products from Bumble and Bumble and John Frieda to add dimension, texture and build on both existing natural waves and the curls I just styled.

STEP THREE

Accessorize with hair jewelry and/or try incorporating a chunky, piece-y braid for added texture and dimension (like I did here). I added an unexpected fishtail on one of the models and it just added loads to her look.

AT THE BEACH

Now your hair game is on point! Leave your hair as-is, or add in a little salt water for added texture. A travel-sized sea salt spray will also tame any frizzes or just punch up your waves. Layering additional product or salt water while at the beach, will only add to your pregame styling. Your hair is now worry-free because you thought ahead!
