Nature has a way of making us feel connected—to the trees, the lakes, the animals, the soil, the Earth and the Universe. It reminds us of who we truly are and our place in everything. It makes me feel small, but in a good way, like I’m one part of a beautiful system of energy that moves through everything.
Summer is the perfect time to indulge your wanderlust and connect to Spirit (or the Universe, or Divine, or God or whatever word you’d like to use) at the same time! So take a detour on your way to the beach, or wander away from the crowds on the sand and spend time in nature and experience it in a new way.
Here are my favorite ways to do just that:
1. Walk Barefoot
Have you heard of the grounding concept called “Earthing?” It’s very easy to do because all it means is to walk barefoot outside. On the grass, in the sand, in the dirt, in the water, wherever you choose. By connecting your bare feet to the ground, you’re ‘Earthing.’ Based on research, this practice of connecting to the Earth promotes wellness and relaxation because the frequencies of the human body are connecting with the Earth’s electrical energy. It’s especially important to go ‘Earthing’ if you’ve been using technology a lot.
2. Take a MOON Bath
Depending on where you live in the world these dates may differ for you, but in North America we have three Full Moons this summer: June 27, July 27 and August 26. During the time of a Full Moon, the energy on Earth shifts and intensifies. During the summer especially, this is the time when the Earth is at her most fertile state. The illumination of the Moon is said to encourage plants to flourish and the moon’s energy can also help us flourish. During the next Full Moon, gather your high-vibe tribe and sit together under the Full Moon. This is a great time to sit in a circle, placing your favorite crystals in the centre to charge them with the Moon’s energy, and share your manifestations with each other.
3. Plant a Garden
Earth Mother wants to give us her gifts of abundance. Fruits and vegetables are energetic, life-giving foods that we can enjoy—and what better way to connect to Earth than to use your hands in the dirt (and your bare feet) and plant a garden. Give back to the Earth by adding more plants and nutrients into the soil. Enjoy the quiet and peace that gardening provides and then, after a few months, harvest your bounty and enjoy.
4. Eat Locally Grown, In-Season Fruits & Vegetables
As mentioned above, fruits and vegetables are life-giving, energetic foods that we can enjoy. They’re alkalizing, anti-inflammatory and healthy, whole, unprocessed, straight up goodness straight from Earth Mother and in the scorching hot summer temperatures, fruits and vegetables are the most refreshing and rejuvenating foods to eat as well. Take a trip down to your local farmer’s market and pick up some of your favorites for dinner tonight. And don’t forget to take a moment to thank Earth Mother for her abundance.
How do you stay grounded?
